The Big Tree Story

Big tree farmhouse

A home steeped in Scenic Rim history

Big Tree Farmhouse sits on 66 acres of rolling countryside in the heart of the Scenic Rim – a region we’ve proudly called home for more than 12 years. Just 900 metres from town and positioned at the corner of Mt Lindesay Highway and Boonah–Rathdowney Road, it feels wonderfully remote while still being only 1 hour and 20 minutes from Brisbane or the Gold Coast.

From Cattle Country to Country Retreat

Our story here began over a decade ago when we purchased 88 acres next door. We’ve since run around 30 head of cattle, raised calves, and lived the quiet rhythm of rural life.

When the adjoining 66 acres became available, we knew it was something special. With its natural dam and sweeping views, it just felt like the perfect place to create a peaceful retreat for others to experience — and thus began our journey to the Big Tree Farmhouse.

From then to now

A farmhouse with a second life

The farmhouse itself has its own chapter. Originally sitting on a 15-acre block in Dugandan (Boonah), it was rescued from demolition and moved to the property around three years ago.

She arrived tired and worn, but full of promise. After years of careful restoration, she was completed in late 2024—now standing proudly on the hillside, refreshed, restored, and ready to welcome guests.

Now it's your turn to slow down and unwind

Big Tree Farmhouse was designed for one purpose: to offer space to breathe.

Here, you might spot kangaroos, wallabies, flocks of native birds, the occasional koala in mating season, or even a cheeky fox at sunrise.
Whether you’re enjoying a coffee on the deck, watching the sun melt over the paddocks, or stargazing beneath ink-black skies, every moment invites calm.

Truly a labour of love

Big Tree Farmhouse has been shaped by hard work, care, and a genuine love for this landscape.

Whether you're seeking a quiet escape, a cosy base for exploring, or simply a slower pace of life, we hope you find it here.

Welcome to Big Tree Farmhouse.
